Cleverlearn English Language Institute (BVI) Ltd., (hereinafter referred to as "CELI", "we", "us", or "our") reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to change, modify, add, or remove portions of these terms and conditions at any time. Please check these terms and conditions periodically for changes, modifications, additions and removals.
To enroll, one must be at least 18 years of age. Students below 18 years of age need to include parent's authorization; details of people to contact in case of emergency, authorized time for evening outings, authorization for medical treatment and/or operation if needed and the insurance policy proving that insurance coverage has been arranged by the parents for the length of the stay (see insurance).
To enroll, the completed registration form must be returned accompanied by full payment at least a week before the commencement of the course. CELI will send you a written 'Letter of Acceptance' of your course enrollment and an invoice detailing payment of registration fee, tuition fee and accommodation fee by email to your preferred email address or by fax to your designated fax number.
On the first day of class at CELI or its partner school, all students will either take a computer-based or written exam and an oral interview to determine the level at which they should begin their studies. Whenever necessary, CELI or its partner school reserves the right to alter the timetable and/or transfer students from one class or course to another, from one time of study to another, and to merge small classes or cancel classes and courses. CELI or its partner school reserves the right to cancel any course due to insufficient registration.
A Registration Fee is charged on all courses. The registration fee must be paid with the enrollment.
Should you cancel, the registration fee is non-refundable.
Upon receipt of the Letter of Acceptance and the student invoice, detailing statement of fees, full payment must be made at least 1 week before the commencement of the course. CELI is under no obligation to provide the course or accommodation if fees are not received by the due date. A place cannot be reserved until full payment is made.
Full payment for registration, course fee and accommodation is only for the person and dates specified in the confirmation letter sent by CELI.
Public Holidays - The class schedule at CELI or its partner school follows the Philippine public holidays.Fees will not be refunded for Philippine public holidays.
Misbehavior or poor attendance - Fees are not refunded if you are asked to leave the school because of misbehavior or poor attendance. Misbehavior includes intentional damage to school property, vandalism, smoking in non-designated areas, drinking alcohol inside school and dormitory premises, eating inside the classroom and computer lab, habitual tardiness which disrupts the class, disobedience to teacher and/or other school policies. (This will all be contained in a separate instruction sheet called "CELI Student Rules")
Transferring of Fees - Fees cannot be transferred to any other institution or student. If a student cancels a class, the fees are not transferable to another student or paid in favor of another school. General refund policy shall apply.
Notification to the Philippine Immigration Bureau - When a refund is made, the Philippine Bureau of Immigration (BI) will be informed that you are finishing early. This may affect your visa and Special Student Permit (SSP).
Refunds before a Course, Group Tour or Student-Camp's Commencement - If the written notification of cancellation is confirmed to have been received by CELI before the commencement of the course, CELI will refund all accommodation and tuition fees less 20% of the total accommodation and school fees. Registration fees are non-refundable. Any application for a refund must be accompanied by the original receipt/s and "Confirmation of Enrollment". When the refund is made, CELI will advise the Philippine Bureau of Immigration (BI) that the enrollment has been cancelled, if applicable.
If you arrive late, are absent, or leave early - No refund will be given if you are late, absent or will leave early from class.
Refunds after a Course, Group Tour or Student Camp's Commencement - The amount of refund depends on the length of the course of study (period of enrollment) and on the time period before withdrawal.
Refunds will be paid:
1. in the currency originally received from the student. In Korean Won
(KRW) if the student paid in KRW in Korea. In USD if the student paid
in USD in Cebu,
2. directly to the student's designated bank account,
3. by check to be sent to:
i.) the applicant's registered address,
ii.) another institution, if requested in writing
with the applicant's signature, supported by evidence of a "Confirmation
of Enrollment" at another institution, iii) the student's Recruiting Agent,
if the original funds came from that agent, or
iv) under special circumstances the refund can
be paid directly to a designated bank account.
Class schedules are provided to the students during the orientation. Class schedules are determined by CELI and/or its partner school in the Philippines based on teacher and classroom availability. Students cannot choose to change set class schedules.
Whenever necessary, CELI and/or its partner school reserves the right to alter the class schedules and/or transfer students from one class or course to another, from one time of study to another, and to merge small classes or cancel classes and courses.
Class type instructions and number of instruction hours are determined based on the type of course the student is enrolled in. If a student wishes to change class types or the number of instruction hours the student must request a change and fill out the Request for Change/Action Form. Additional charges will be incurred by the student for changes in class type instructions and number of instruction hours. Request for Change/Action forms must be submitted to CELI Student Service every Monday for processing. Changes may take place a week after the form has been submitted.
Changes to the number of instruction hours are only applicable for students who wish to upgrade their current program or increase the number of instruction hours. Requests to downgrade the program or to decrease the number of instruction hours will not be entertained.
Any changes in class type instructions and number of instruction hours brought about by the customization requests will be made applicable once payment of the additional cost has been settled.
Students will receive a list of their assigned teachers along with their class schedule during the orientation. Teacher assignments and schedules are determined by CELI and/or its partner schools. Students cannot choose to change teachers.
Regular evaluation will be conducted by CELI and/or its partner school to determine the effectiveness and the performance of their teachers. Students will be able to evaluate their teachers and provide necessary inputs to allow CELI and/or its partner school to gauge the teachers' performance.
If a student has concerns about his/her class or training matters, the student is expected to speak to his/her assigned counselor first. If the difficulty persists, the student is welcome to ask for assistance from the General Director of CELI or of its partner school.It is under the discretion of the General Director of CELI and its partner school whether to recommend changes.
CELI and/or its partner school reserves the right to assign different instructors to a class or a course or move instructors from one class to another. Whenever necessary substitute teachers will be utilized if the assigned teacher is absent, on leave or is not available.
Students should attend all classes and participate in activities unless there is a compelling reason. Attendance is monitored in every class by the teacher/training assistant.
CELI and/or its partner school will not provide any make-up lessons missed by students due to tardiness, absence or late arrival.
In cases where regular teachers are unable to attend scheduled classes, CELI reserves the right to assign substitute teachers to take over the classes.
If and when necessary, lessons missed due to a teacher's absence will be rescheduled by CELI and/or its partner schools. If a student misses a make-up lesson, CELI and/or its partner school is not required to reschedule the lesson.
If a student wishes to extend his Course he may do so by filling the Request for Extension Form two weeks before his last day of class.
CELI Student Service will provide the student with an invoice outlining the cost of extending the program.
Unless full payment is received all extension requests are considered invalid.
CELI Refund Policy
I. Requests for refunds will be processed upon approval of request by CELI Cebu Management.
II. Refunds shall be computed against the gross amount of the student's unused/remaining weeks.
III. Minimum number of weeks to be refunded is 3 weeks.
IV. Computations for amount to be refunded shall be based on the arrival status of the student.
A. If the student wishes to cancel the course prior to his arrival at the campus, the refund shall be computed against a percentage of the unused weeks plus a cancellation fee of $400.
B. If the student wishes to cancel a specified number of his remaining weeks while he is already taking his classes, the refund shall be computed against a percentage of the unused weeks plus a cancellation fee of $600.
V. Cancellations for extended weeks shall fall under Category IV B.Students under 18 must stay in a CELI-approved accommodation, or with their parents or legally appointed guardian, for the duration of their course.
All decisions by the CELI or its partner school General Director are final.
If a student wishes to upgrade his room he can do so by filling out the Request for Change/Action Form. Additional charges will be incurred by the student for room upgrades. The student will be informed by CELI and/or its partner school if the request for change in accommodation is approved.
Depending on the room availability, room changes may take place at least a week after the Request for Change/Action Form has been submitted.
Request for room downgrades is not allowed.
Accommodation bookings are made for the dates specified by the student and are only valid for these dates. Any changes of dates for accommodation extension must be requested in writing at least 2 weeks before the end date of the accommodation contract.
Students below 18 years of age need to be accompanied by their parents or authorized guardians.
Guardians are allowed to enter the facility and dine in the designated CELI cafeteria but are forbidden from using the school's facilities.
CELI and/or its partner school may take photographs of students for marketing or other promotional activities, which would automatically grant to CELI and/or its partner school, its affiliated companies and necessary sublicensees an irrevocable, perpetual, non-exclusive, worldwide license to use, copy, perform, display, distribute, transmit, publicly display, publicly perform, reproduce, edit, translate and reformat such photograph/s and to prepare derivative works of, or incorporate into other works, such photograph/s, and to grant and authorize sublicenses of the foregoing. No compensation will be paid for any photograph/s taken. In the event you do not wish your photograph to be used for such purposes, please advise CELI in writing.
CELI and/or its partner school will not be liable for any theft, damages, or losses during the students' stay in the Philippines. It is required that you have a travel or medical insurance policy that will cover the cost of your medical treatment for the duration of your stay. Students below 18 years of age must attach a copy of their insurance policy to their enrollment form.
